{"id":563,"date":"2026-08-19T21:06:34","date_gmt":"2026-08-20T04:06:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doublethink.institute\/?p=563"},"modified":"2026-08-19T21:06:34","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T04:06:34","slug":"where-did-irans-disappeared-oil-companies-go","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resanegar.com\/en\/where-did-irans-disappeared-oil-companies-go\/","title":{"rendered":"Where Did Iran\u2019s Disappeared Oil Companies Go?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-central-palette-1-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:28px\">How the government obscures the public profile of top-earning firms to evade sanctions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\">\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:41px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While doing research, Doublethink analysts flagged an irregularity in the data. Looking at Iran\u2019s Ministry of Industry and Mines Top 500 indexes for the past three years, Doublethink discovered that a significant number of businesses had disappeared from the most current list. Our analysts checked the companies\u2019 financial records and scoured Iranian news reports for signs that these companies were in financial trouble, but in most cases records showed these companies to be far from being insolvent. In fact, most of these disappeared companies were still active and producing healthy profits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We conducted several interviews with oil industry insiders, and we have concluded that Iran\u2019s government is deliberately obscuring these companies\u2019 public profile. We believe that the main reason for this is to evade sanctions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Nine companies on the list are linked to Persian Gulf Petroleum Investment Company (PGPIC), which the U.S. Treasury recently sanctioned due to its business ties to Khatam al-Anbia and the IRGC.<\/li><li>Ten companies on the list had beneficial ownership or board member links to bonyads.<\/li><li>One company, Pardis Petrochemical, has links to Muller Financial Limited, a Swiss company mentioned in the Panama Papers. <\/li><li>Four companies on the list reported substantial business activity abroad, including ownership links to suspected front companies.<\/li><li>Three companies on the list appeared to have concealed true ownership via fraudulent boards and\/or falsified financial records.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s a complete list of the 24 disappeared oil companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Tehran Oil Refining\u00a0Company<\/strong>: Fraudulent board suspected <\/li><li><strong>Ahdaf Investment Company<\/strong>: Linked to Dubai-owned Bonyad Taavon Sepah company<\/li><li><strong>Pars Petrochemical Company<\/strong>.: Bonyad-owned, PGPIC<\/li><li><strong>Mobin Petrochemical Company<\/strong>: Fraudulent board suspected<\/li><li><strong>Shiraz Oil Refining Company<\/strong>: Bonyad-owned<\/li><li><strong>Pardis Petrochemical\u00a0Company<\/strong>: Panama Papers link via shareholder, PGPIC<\/li><li><strong>Fajr Petrochemical Company<\/strong>: PGPIC<\/li><li><strong>Kharg Petrochemical Company<\/strong>: Top 10 Exporter, no financial records for past 3 years<\/li><li><strong>Petrochemical Industries Investment\u00a0Company<\/strong>: Possible BTS link, PGPIC.
